E-voting Online voting and elections
What is e-voting?
Swiss Post helps people in their day-to-day lives with the services it provides. Its core business is to transport information and data confidentially and securely in both the physical world and the virtual world. E-voting allows voters to participate in votes and elections electronically. Votes are cast via computer, smartphone or tablet.
On 3 March 2023, the Federal Council approved the e-voting system developed by Swiss Post for votes. For the first time since 2019, voters will be able to vote electronically again as part of the federal government’s trial operation. Swiss Post has been developing its e-voting system with full verifiability at its IT location in Neuchâtel since 2020. In doing so, it is providing interested cantons with an e-voting system from Switzerland.
