Post E-Health platform — our platform for reference communities Certifiable environment for EPR

We are taking a leading role as an integrated provider in the introduction and further development of the electronic patient record (EPR) in Switzerland. We provide reference communities that offer the EPR with the necessary certifiable infrastructure based on the legally required IHE standard (Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise).

Siemens Healthineers EPR technology partner

The Post E-Health platform we operate for the electronic patient record is the result of close collaboration with ITH icoserve in Innsbruck, a subsidiary of Siemens Healthineers. The shared aim is the secure and trustworthy conveyance of sensitive health data in accordance with the Federal Act on the Electronic Patient Record (EPRA).

The Digital Health Services from Siemens Healthineers are market-proven, for example in Austria, Germany and Denmark. Thanks to the strategic partnership with Siemens Healthineers, we can provide additional functionalities to the reference communities and therefore also to the service providers. As before, the implementation for customers, the operations, managing customer relationships as well as delivering customer support are our responsibility.

Our customers Success based on a collaborative partnership

CRIB – protects sensitive research data

International clinical studies with a science-critical focus, such as early detection of coronary heart disease or rapid and accurate diagnosis of cardiac syncope – in these fields, the Cardiovascular Research Institute at University Hospital Basel (CRIB) is one of the leading research institutes worldwide. The secure exchange of as yet unpublished study data and confidential manuscripts is an important part of the process. For this purpose, CRIB uses an intuitive end-to-end encryption solution from data security specialist Tresorit.

Exchanging sensitive research data with internal and external cooperation partners from all over the world is part of everyday life at the Cardiovascular Research Institute at University Hospital Basel (CRIB). That’s why it is important for CRIB to send the research group’s data, analyses and joint paper drafts securely and efficiently. An uncomplicated and secure setup is one of CRIB’s key IT and digitization strategies. In particular, intuitive operation and integration into typical daily workflows play a major role – after all, not every medical professional is also an IT security expert.

Post Sanela Health Ltd operating company

post-logoGiving members of the public the key to their healthcare data and enabling service providers to deliver healthcare more effectively – those are the goals that Swiss Post has set itself. The operating company Post Sanela Health AG operates and offers the electronic patient record (EPR) throughout Switzerland. In January 2025, it took over operation of the EPR reference community in the canton of Ticino. Swiss Post’s e-Health platform is the technological basis for the EPR.

At Sanela, the focus is on customer benefits
To make opening an EPR as simple as possible, residents can open Sanela’s EPR fully online and free of charge in 13 cantons throughout Switzerland – including for children or people under legal guardianship. Since May 2024, Sanela has made the digital vaccination record (vaccination module) available to its users in the EPR. Radiological findings can also be processed in the EPR as structured data. And, as of recently, users can access their health data in the EPR securely and conveniently at any time and from anywhere via the EPR app. With Swiss Post as its technology provider, Sanela is working on other new EPR functions, such as the eMedicationPlan.

Boosting the digitization of the Swiss healthcare system
We are building the infrastructure to ensure the accessibility of all stakeholders in the healthcare sector. Sanela-Connect connects all stakeholders in the healthcare sector to the Sanela EPR platform via a technical connection. This ensures compliance with legal requirements regarding EPR connectivity, and attractive B2B and B2C communication options can be used via the same connection. For example, documents can be exchanged in a structured way between different healthcare facilities and reports from the primary system are automatically uploaded to the EPR.

Mon Dossier Santé

mds-logo-blogformatThe Canton of Neuchâtel and its health professionals are working together to implement the electronic patient record (EPR). They will use the solution from Swiss Post for this.

Broad service offering for better coordination
In addition to hospitals, “Mon Dossier Santé” also connects general practitioners, specialists, pharmacies, home care, nursing homes and laboratories. It is based on Swiss Post’s E-Health platform and makes it possible for health professionals to share medical information that is important and necessary in the treatment of Neuchâtel patients.

The patient as an informed actor in healthcare
Via “Mon Dossier Santé”, the patient can access their own health data at any time and from anywhere and can add to it themselves, e.g. information about allergies or contact persons. If the patient gives their consent, their medical information will be shared with the health professionals who treat them. Simplified and permanent access to health data will improve medical and paramedical treatment and lower healthcare costs by reducing multiple examinations and unsuitable treatment prescriptions.
